Oral history interview with Dr. Leon Poullada [sound recording]. [1980]

Dr. Poullada talked with Herman Georing in his cell. Goerring accepted the premises that the Jews have been persecuted for years and that Jews are an unpurified society. He notes that the Germans kept excellent records (later captured by the Allies) which provided the evidence for the Nuremberg trials. He lists what was considered a war crime. The prosecutors had to decide who to try. It later turned out that the SS and the Gestapo were tried as separate defendants. There were 22 principle defendants of which 11 were hanged, 2 committed suicide, 3 were acquitted, and the rest were shot. All members of the convicted organizations were deemed guilty by association. The latter part of the tape concerns Dr. Poullada's involvement in the case of Werner von Braun, a rocket scientist. Himmler tried to get control of the rocket technology. He used slave labor from the concentration camps to produce the fuel and the rockets. The camp was built underground in the sulfate mines, where the workers were starved.
